Kannada & Culture Minister Aravind Limbavali said a notice will be issued to Google.
Social media was filled with anger and rage as google’s search of ‘ugliest language of India’ showed Kannada as the result. By around 3 pm, Google altered the results for the search amidst widespread criticism.
A Google query on “ugliest language in India” showed Kannada as the answer, screenshots of which were shared widely by users. The Google answer was sourced from a website, which was mass reported by users. This double standard has left the Kannadigas confused as to what Google really thinks of their beloved language. By around 3 pm, Google altered the results for the search amidst widespread criticism.
“Kannada language has a history of its own, having come into existence as many as 2,500 years ago! It has been the pride of Kannadigas all through these two-and-a-half millennia. If Kannada is now called ugliest language in India, it is merely an attempt by Google to insult this pride of Kannadigas,” Limbavali said in a tweet.
ಆದರೆ ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಟ್ಟ(ugliest) ಭಾಷೆ ಎಂದರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ನುಡಿಯಾದ ಕನ್ನಡ ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರ ಬರುತ್ತಿದೆ ಹೀಗಾಗಿ @Google ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರ ಸ್ವಾಭಿಮಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಧಕ್ಕೆ ತರುವ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿದೆ, ಈ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆದಷ್ಟು ಬೇಗ ಗೂಗಲ್ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರ ಕ್ಷಮೆ ಕೇಳಬೇಕು. ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಕುರಿತು ಅಪಪ್ರಚಾರ ಮಾಡಿದ @Google ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಕಾನೂನು ಕ್ರಮ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗುವುದು.

Kannada doesn’t belong to Kannadiga’s alone, it belongs to South India,we Tamils may have differences with Kannadiga but they are our brothers and we will support Kannada, many Tamils live in Karnataka and many Kannadigas live in Tamil Nadu #Kannada
