‘Kejriwal must resign’: BJP puts posters outside AAP office amid ED raids at Sanjay Singh’s residence

A large group of BJP workers led by Delhi unit leaders held a protest outside the AAP office and raised slogans for resignation of Arvind Kejriwal.

New Delhi: While the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids at Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh’s residence today morning, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday intensified its attack on the party supremo and demanded that Arvind Kejriwal must take onus and resign from the Chief Minister post.

Several BJP-sponsored posters sprung up in Delhi’s ITO area and outside the AAP office on Wednesday, demanding the resignation of Chief Minister for ‘allowing corruption’ under his nose.

The hoardings that were put up outside AAP office read, “Mastermind of liquor scam has become a government witness. Kejriwal must resign.” It also said that ‘mega protest’ will be launched against wide-scale corruption.

BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said that time was running out for the AAP convenor as investigative agencies are fast connecting the dots in Delhi’s liquor policy scam.

Replying to raids at Sanjay Singh’s residence, Kejriwal called it a ‘witch hunt’ by the Centre-controlled agencies and said that this was a desperate attempt by BJP regime to browbeat its rivals ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

ED raids on Sanjay Singh

The ED carried out searches on the residence of AAP MP Sanjay Singh in connection with alleged money laundering in Delhi excise policy scam case. The investigative agency had earlier questioned his staff members in this case. The charge against AAP government is that it facilitated its ‘close & favoured’ liquor dealers to strike deal under new liquor policy to open liquor stores. A couple of big firms participated and won bid for the same by paying bribes to AAP govt, a charge strongly refuted by the party.

The contentious policy was later revoked and Delhi lieutenant governor ordered a CBI probe, following a case was lodged by ED under the PMLA. The ED chargesheet also had four mentions of Sanjay Singh, however, the agency said that one was a typo error.
