Kejriwal vs VK Saxena: Delhi L-G directs chief secy to recover Rs 97 crore from AAP for ‘political’ advertisements

Sources said that even after a period of five years and eight months have passed, the AAP has not complied with the DIP order. 

New Delhi: Delhi LG VK Saxena has directed Chief Secretary to recover Rs 97 Crores from AAP for political advertisements it published as government ads.

The LG’s directions come in wake of Supreme Court orders of 2015, Delhi HC order of 2016 & CCRGA’s order of 2016, being violated by AAP Govt.

The Directorate of Information and Publicity (DIP) quantified that Rs 97.14 crore had been spent or booked on account of “non-conforming advertisements”.

According to sources, payments of over Rs 42.26 crore was released by the DIP, while Rs 54.87 crore for advertisements published were still pending disbursal.

In 2017, the DIP had directed the AAP to pay over Rs 42.26 crore to the state exchequer immediately and directly pay the pending amount of Rs 54.87 crore to the advertising agencies or publications concerned within 30 days.
