Kerala polls: Ex-MP stoops to new low, says Rahul Gandhi will visit only women colleges; urges girls for ‘caution’

Incensed at Idukki’s former LS MP Joyce George’s remarks, Congress leaders are up in arms and are demanding action against him by the Election Commission.

New Delhi: Marking a new low in Kerala politics, former Kerala MP Joyce George made derogatory remarks against Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi. In a below the belt remarks, he said that girls should be careful as the Congress MP would only visit girls campuses.

The former MP has come in line of fire from Congress party for his misogynistic remarks against Rahul Gandhi.

Speaking at a rally in support of CPI(M) leader MM Mani, he said, “Rahul Gandhi’s programme is such that he will only visit women colleges. He will go there and teach girls to bend. My dear children, please don’t bend and stand in front of him…he is not married.”


Joyce George is a former independent MP from Idukki backed by the LDF (Left Democratic Front).

Kerala minister MM Mani, who was present on the stage, was caught on camera laughing as Joyce George made the remarks.

Congress up in arms over vulgar remarks

Incensed at Idukki’s former LS MP Joyce George’s remarks, Congress leaders are up in arms and are demanding action against him by the Election Commission.


George was Idukki Lok Sabha member of the Left in 2014 and lost to Congress candidate in 2019 LS polls.

Incidentally, Rahul Gandhi was in Idukki last week for a whirlwind campaign for the party. The state is set to go to polls on April 6 to elect 140 legislators.
