Know about Madhav National Park of MP that will see introduction of 3 tigers today

After the project takes off, this will also generate many employment opportunities for local population. Plans are afoot to expand the tiger reserve area to 1,600 km square area.

New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh’s Madhav National Park is all set to become new home of 1 tiger & 2 tigresses, as they will be released in the sanctuary as part of tiger reintroduction project.

The move comes after almost six months of re-introduction of African cheetahs at the state’s Kuno National Park.

Madhav National Park, the wildlife habitat situated barely 40 km from the Kuno National Park will see 3 big cats being introduced by the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan. Civil Aviation Minister & several state ministers of MP government will be present on the occasion.

Out of the three tigers being introduced in national park includes a captured tiger near an institute in Bhopal while 2 tigresses are being brought from other national reserve of the nation.

About Madhav National Park

Madhav National Park is named after Jyotiraditya Scindia’s great grandfather Madho Rao Scindia I.

Jyotiraditya Scindia along with Madhya Pradesh CM are monitoring the tiger relocation project. The forest department has already secured nod for re-introduction of 5 tigers in the national park.

The project is set to give fresh impetus & fillip to tourism in the region. Apart from enhancing tourism potential, this will also create a huge wildlife corridor between Kuno National Park, Madhav National Park, Panna Tiger Reserve (MP) and Ranathambore tiger reserve in Rajasthan.

After the project takes off, this will also generate many employment opportunities for local population. Plans are afoot to expand the tiger reserve area to 1,600 km square area.

Tiger safari is one of the ambitious project that the government is eyeing for, by enhancing the wildlife corridor & harnessing the tourism potential of region.

The tiger reserve had at least 4 tigers in 1980s, which dwindled over period of time and got extinct from here due to negligence. With govt’s fresh focus on tiger reintroduction, the Madhav National Park will become a prominent spot on state map for tiger safari.
