Kolkata: Pics of massive footfall for Christmas celebration at Parks Street goes viral amidst Omicron scare

No social distancing could be seen at the sight, while some pics seemed as if there wasn’t even breathable gap left during celebration.

New Delhi: Amid rising Covid-19 cases throughout the country as well the spike of variant of concern ‘Omicron’, massive crowd gathered at Kolkata’s Park Street for Christmas celebration on Saturday.

Photos of hundreds of people gathered at Park Street surfaced online. Many were seen breaking the Covid protocols while many did not even cared to put their masks on in the viral pics.

No social distancing can be seen in practice at the sight, while some of the pictures seemed as if there isn’t even breathable gap left at the place of celebration.

The widely circulated pictures have received sharp criticism from Netizens:

BJP’s MLA from Asansol South Agnimitra Paul criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of jeopardizing people’s life.

“Welcome OMICRON! To the CITY of CHAPPA! @MamataOfficial to please the people of GOA are you not putting the people BENGAL at DANGER?? You have been proved by your own GOA MLA that you are playing dirty divisive politics of HATE!”, she tweeted.
