New Delhi: Mahant Swami Maharaj, the sixth and present spiritual guru of the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam (BAPS) Swaminarayan Sanstha turned 90 today. On the auspicious occasion, thousands of BAPs volunteers, his followers and well-wishers extended warmest greetings & wishes to the BAPS spiritual guru.
Mahant Swami Maharaj recently visited the BAPS Swaminaryan Akshardham campus in New Jersey (US) for the three-month long ‘Festival of Inspirations’. His arrival in New Jersey saw series of celebrations and ceremonious events under the auspices of ‘Akshadharm Mahotsav’. His visit to New Jersey campus enthused and energized the followers & volunteers of the spiritual organization.
While lakhs of his devotees & well-wishers celebrating Swami Maharaj’s 90th Janma Jayanti today, many also penned congratulatory messages & wishes for his ‘milestone birthday’.
It was in July 2021 that Pramukh Swami Maharaj named him as his spiritual successor. After the Pramukh Swami Maharaj departed on August 13, 2016, Mahant Swami Maharaj became the sixth guru of the BAPS Swaminaryan Sanstha. Mahant Swami Maharaj now presides over the worldwide socio-spiritual activities of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha.
His profound discourses over the years has enlightened countless devotees and encouraged them to adopt pious, addiction-free lives.
Earlier, this year in May 2023, Mahant Swami Maharaj visited BAPS Swaminaryan Mandir in London and was greeted joyously by thousands of devotees & followers. Streams of people assembled for his warm welcome while many gathered at the temple premises for his first ‘darshan’.
Next year will be a milestone moment for BAPS Swaminaryan Sanstha as first Hindu temple will get unveiled in Abu Dhabhi. As per reports, the temple will be inaugurated in February 2014 through a vedic ceremony led by BAPS spiritual guru Mahant Swami Maharaj. A day later, the doors of first Hindu temple in UAE will be opened for public.
Mahant Swami Maharaj was born to Dahiben & Manibhai Narayanbhai in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur on 13th September, 1933. Years later in 1961, he was ordained a swami by Yogiji Maharaj and named Sadhu Keshav jivandas. He came to be known as Mahant Swami, after he was appointed as Mahant of a Mumbai temple.
