What Maldives Minister said about PM Modi?
Maldives Minister Mariyam Shiyuna called Prime Minister Modi a ‘clown’ and a puppet of Israel. After posting these statements, the Minister received huge backlash on Social Media and was quick enough to delete her posts. The other Minister Zaheed Rameez also hurled abuses and said India “competing” with the Maldives in terms of tourism was “delusional”. Worse, he said there was a “permanent smell in the rooms [in India]”.
How the entire nation stood in support of PM Modi
After the controversy became viral on Social Media platforms, the entire Bollywood like Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Kangana Ranaut, John Abraham and Salman Khan came into the support of PM Modi and the country and urged their fans to explore Indian tourist destinations.
Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar tweeted, We are good to our neighbours but, Why should we tolerate such unprovoked hate? I’ve visited the Maldives many times and always praised it, but dignity first. Let us decide to #ExploreIndianIslands and support our own tourism,” while actress Kangana Ranaut hit out at Zaheed Rameez over his post on permanent smell.
Came across comments from prominent public figures from Maldives passing hateful and racist comments on Indians. Surprised that they are doing this to a country that sends them the maximum number of tourists.
