Massive 15-feet long sinkhole forms on Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, VIDEO surfaces

The concerned authorities reportedly had to launch an immediate repair work on the route due to heavy traffic congestion

New Delhi: A part of the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway crumpled on Friday, resulting in a huge 15-foot long and at least 2-foot wide sinkhole on the crucial route. The incident took place near Greater Noida’s Sector 96 area in Uttar Pradesh.

The concerned authorities reportedly had to launch immediate repair work on the route due to heavy traffic congestion.

Owing to the massive sinkhole, traffic disruption was reported on both sides of the busy expressway. However, the police administration claimed that the vehicle moment was recorded as normal on Saturday morning.

A shocking video clip of the giant sinkhole being formed on the expressway surfaced online on Friday, wherein construction workers could be seen repairing the caved portion as the traffic police personnel tries to manage the vehicle movement.

Watch:

“The road portion caved in near Sector 96 where work for an underpass was being carried out. It was on the carriageway while one moves from Noida towards Greater Noida. The repair work on it had started on Friday itself, leading to traffic congestion”, an official told the media on Friday.

Though, news agency Press Trust of India quoted an official saying on Saturday morning, “The movement of vehicles was smooth along the stretch and there was no congestion on it”.

As per the officials, lakhs of vehicles pass through the key expressway which happens to be a 27-km-long, though the load sees a huge decline during the weekends.
