MEA condemns vandalism of Hindu temple in Canada, raises matter with Canadian authorities

According to reports, a group of miscreants defaced the Hindu temple in Windsor locality of Canada’s Ontario and also pasted anti-Indian graffiti on its walls.

New Delhi: Reacting to vandalism of a Hindu temple in Canada’s Windsor, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) condemned the incident, and took up the matter with Canadian authorities.

Briefing the media about temple vandalism, the MEA spokesperson said that it is in touch with Indian consulate and also pursuing the matter with Canadian authorities to ensure that this doesn’t happen again.

“This is unfortunate incident and should not have happened. We condemn the incident, and we are in touch with the Canadian authorities to ensure this doesn’t happen again,” MEA spokesperson said.

According to reports, a group of miscreants defaced the Hindu temple in Windsor locality of Canada’s Ontario and also pasted anti-Indian graffiti on its walls. A video of the incident was also released by the Windsor Police.

It said that it has begun investigation into vandalism as a “hate-motivated incident” and is looking for 2 suspects.

During investigation, the Windsor police procured a video which showed 2 suspects in the area around 12 am midnight.

“In the video, one suspect appears to commit the vandalism on the wall of the building while the other keeps watch,” Windsor police said in the statement.

The Windsor Police has urged the locals in the vicinity of temple to keep a watch on movement of suspicious people and also share information with them.

It has also asked them to check their home surveillance from 11 pm – 1 am for collecting evidence on suspects.
