Meet Arhan Bagati, youngest Dy Chef-De-Mission at Tokyo Paralympics; his Kashmir origin an asset for him

New Delhi: The Tokyo Paralympics will begin on August 24 and 54 Indian para-athletes will participate across nine sports disciplines featuring in the showpiece event. Par-athletes have always made the country proud with their performances. World’s youngest Dy Chef-De-Mission Arhan Bagati believes that this contingent can go one step further and win 15 medals at the showpiece event.

Kashmir’s Arhan Bagati at just the age of 22 has become the world’s youngest deputy chef de mission in the world at the Tokyo Paralympics. Young Kashmiri Pandit is one of the consistent names in the Paralympic sports and at Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games he will be a great inspiration to India’s special athletes.

Graduated from Pamona College in the USA, Arhan, has been the goodwill ambassador for Paralympics since 2015. As an inspiring teenager, in 2015 he developed The ‘In Rio’ app which proved to be very instrumental in helping para-athletes during the 2016 Rio Games by allowing them to get access to various queries including preparation, diet, fitness, etc.

Being a huge fan of late Milkha Singh inspired Arhan to take the para movement forward to the next level. During an event in Delhi in 2014, Arhan got a chance to meet ‘Flying Sikh’  from where he got to know the struggle about para-athletes.

Arhan’s heart struck a chord with India’s special athletes and he kept regular contact with them and tried whatever he could do to help them out. Finally in 2015 Arhan officially came on board with the athletes.
