New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee launched her party’s campaign on Wednesday for assembly elections scheduled to be held in the three northeastern states of Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura.
Mamata Banerjee who was in Meghalaya’s North Garo Hills kicked off her election campaign in Mendipathar. Her nephew and Trinamool leader Abhishek Banerjee were also present.
The campaign kicked off on the same day when election dates for all three states were announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
TMC supremo was seen playing drums and shaking her leg to the beats of Garo traditional dance music.
Ex-Chief Minister and Former congress leader Mukul Sangma who joined the TMC was also seen clapping his hands and encouraging Mamata Banerjee.

Mamata Banerjee while addressing the rally also tried to connect Meghalaya with West Bengal in a musical tone.
She also tried to mimic the tune of the whistle of a Kongthong village, also known as the whistling village in Meghalaya where people whistle to each other to communicate.

She called the “culture high-like sky high”. She called Meghalaya the tune culture the rythm culture of India.
She called Bengal the culture capital of India.
This was Mamata Banerjee’s second visit to the poll-bond state.
Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura Elections 2023:
On Wednesday, the Election Commission announced the election dates for Tripura, Meghalaya, and Nagaland. The election is scheduled to be held in a single phase on February 16 and in Nagaland and Meghalaya on February 27. Results for all the three states will be announced on March 2.
