‘Met my mentor…’: Navjot Singh Sidhu meets Congress leaders Rahul, Priyanka Gandhi

He also tweeted a picture with the Congress leaders and referred to Rahul Gandhi as his mentor and Priyanka as his friend, guide, and philosopher.

New Delhi: Congress leader and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu, who was recently released from Patiala Jail, met Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Wadra in Delhi. He also tweeted a picture with the Congress leaders and referred to Rahul Gandhi as his mentor and Priyanka as his friend, guide, and philosopher.

Sharing the tweet, Navjot also took a dig at the ruling party and wrote that they can jail him, intimidate him and block his financial accounts but his commitment to Punjab and his leaders will not move.

This was Sidhu’s first meeting with the senior Congress leaders since he walked out of the jail. The issues discussed in the meeting are not revealed yet.

Immediately after stepping out of the jail, he attacked the Centre and also targeted Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann over the law and order issues in the state. He met the family of the late singer Sidhu Moosewala and pointed out the issues in the investigation of his murder. In a press conference and then on Twitter, Navjot demanded justice for Moosewala.

Sidhu spent nearly 10 months in Patiala jail in a 1988 road rage case, in which a man lost his life. He was sentenced to a year but was released on April 1 citing his ‘good behaviour’.
