Mizoram and Assam CM fight on Twitter over border firing, both seek Amit Shah’s help
New Delhi: A war of words broke out between Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga over firing and violence incidents on their border. Fresh violence broke out at the disputed Assam-Mizoram border, which spreads into Assam’s Cachar district and Mizoram’s Colasib district.
Both Chief Ministers had an open confrontation on Twitter and they also tagged Home Minister Amit Shah in their posts, seeking his intervention in resolving the crisis.
Two days ago, Home Minister had visited Meghalya and had a closed-door meeting with CMs of North East states.
Mizoram CM Zoramthanga tweeted a video clip on Twitter, in which police could be seen trying to stop clash between armed men.
Shri @AmitShah ji….kindly look into the matter.
This needs to be stopped right now.#MizoramAssamBorderTension @PMOIndia @HMOIndia @himantabiswa @dccachar @cacharpolice pic.twitter.com/A33kWxXkhG

“Innocent couple on their way back to Mizoram via Cachar manhandled and ransacked by thugs and goons. How are you going to justify these violent acts?” he wrote in another tweet.

Assam Police, replying to Mizoram CM’s charges said that miscreants from Mizoram were indulging in stone-pelting and attacking Assam government officials stationed at Lailapur.
Assam CM Himanta Sarma also shared a video clipping and said that Mizoram SP was asking Assam’s officials to withdraw from their post until then their civilians won’t listen nor stop violence. He too sought immediate intervention of Shah and the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Honble @ZoramthangaCM ji , Kolasib ( Mizoram) SP is asking us to withdraw from our post until then their civilians won't listen nor stop violence. How can we run government in such circumstances? Hope you will intervene at earliest @AmitShah @PMOIndia pic.twitter.com/72CWWiJGf3
