New Delhi: With the 10-day Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations coming to an end, Maharashtra is gearing up for the Visarjan on Sunday. The Maharashtra Police has made several arrangements for smooth conclusion of the ceremony and also issued guidelines for restricting assembly of people, in wake of Covid-19 threat.

 Mumbai Police as well as BMC has issued guidelines and made several arrangements for the immersion of Lord Ganesha. 

 September 19 will witness the Anant Chaturdashi and the last day of the 10-day Ganesh Chaturthi.

 Mumbai Police stated that fixed points and patrolling will be stationed at all sensitive spots and areas. Besides, heavy bondobast is being deployed at the immersion grounds.

 *500 Home Guards, 275 Constables to be deployed*

 Arrangements such as lighting, cranes, swimmers, ambulance, fire services, and all other safety measures will be undertaken in coordination with the respective departments. Also anti-sabotage measures, night patrolling and good morning squad operation will be practiced.

 “Extra Manpower is being deployed in the form of – 100 officers and 1500 men from Local Arms and various branches, 3 Company of SRPF, 1 Company of CRPF, 500 Home Guards, 275 Constables from outside units,” said Mumbai Police.

 The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has stationed over 25,000 workers at the foreshore of the city to avoid unprecedented incidents to occur.

 The BMC had also mentioned that no procession will take place considering the festivity. In fact, no more than five members can gather at a place.

 On the shores of the city 338 Nirmalya Kalash have been set up and 182 vans have been deployed for picking up flower wastage from the city.

 As precautionary measures, BMC has organised 3,707 floodlights, 116 searchlights, 48 observational towers, 36 motorboats, and 30 rafts at the immersion grounds. Besides, at least 715 lifeguards will be kept at the shores.

 BMC has set up an online link for devotees to book time slots for immersion in areas such as D-Ward (Girgaon, Malabar Hill), K-West (Juhu), and T-Ward (Mulund).

 Also, 173 artificial lakes in 24 municipal wards have been set up by the BMC.
