Muslim man singing iconic Mahabharat title track wows netizens; Video goes viral

New Delhi: Revisiting our childhood days, one of the prominent memories that come to our mind is watching Ramayana and Mahabharat with our family every Sunday morning. The shows were telecasted on Doordarshan in late 80s and early 90s.

The epic shows are no longer available but a beautiful rendition of the Mahabharat title track has brought back those memories. What’s more heart-warming is that a Muslim man has evoked this nostalgia and is winning many hearts on social media.

The video has taken the social media by storm and people are sharing this 1 minute video clip, where the elderly man is seen singing the iconic track and people around him intently listening to his rendition.

The video was shared by Dr SY Quraishi, the former chief election commissioner of India. He captioned the video, “Beating the stereotypes.”


Since the time of its sharing, the video clip has recorded over 106K views and more than 1200 retweets. The rendition of the shlokas has impressed many netizens. Some are seen terming the performance as the “true fabric of India,” which must be preserved.
Congress leader, P Chidambaram has also taken to Twitter to share his thoughts behind the video. Captioning it as “The Muslim gentleman’s rendering of a Mahabharata iconic verse/song was awesome and inspiring.”


Apart from the people in the video, who praised the performance with applause, the netizens also took to the microblogging site to share their thoughts. One of the users wrote, “We all grew up with this! Also, for those who don’t know great Rahi Masoom Raza wrote screenplay for Mahabharat. The beauty of India.”
