New Delhi: Namra Qadir, a well known Delhi-based YouTuber has been granted bail, months after her arrest in Rs 70 lakh extortion case filed by a businessman. The popular YouTuber was arrested on December 5, 2022, following allegations of extortion by Badshahpur-based businessman Dinesh Yadav. The court has granted bail to the accused on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh but is yet to pronounce any judgement in the case. It observed that “keeping Namra Qadir behind bars would serve no purpose as investigations in the case has been completed”. Namra Qadir’s counsel Narita Yadav argued in court that charges against her were motivated and she was implicated in a false & fabricated case. While putting forth arguments for seeking interim bail to the accused, counsel Narita Yadav told court that the complainant businessmen was trying to delay the legal proceedings by deliberately avoiding appearance in court. She stated that the complainant was served notice twice, with the second summon served to him by the SHO. “The sole purpose of the complainant is to avoid his appearance and delay the matter in order to keep the applicant in jail by hook or crook,” Namra's lawyer claimed in petition. The matter pertaining to 22-year-old YouTuber & her husband & co-accused Manish alias Virat Beniwal and 21-year-old businessman Dinesh Yadav, initially did confound the police as both sides made conflicting claims. A private firm owner Dinesh Yadav accused Namra Qadir of honey-trapping him and then threatening to implicate him in rape case, though the charge was refuted by her. However, when police called up the parties, Namra & her husband Manish first refused to join probe and then latter went missing. Later, police launched hunt for tracing Manish's whereabouts. The 22-year old Namra Qadir is social media influencer and enjoys huge fan following on social media applications including Instagram & YouTube. Her video-sharing platform has more than 617K subscribers and over 2 lakh viewers on Instagram.
