New Delhi: Setting a new milestone in digital public outreach, the Narendra Modi WhatsApp channel achieved 1 million followers in just 24 hours of its launch.

The WhatsApp channel was launched on Tuesday evening with an intent to reach out to public and establish ‘direct communication’ with them, so as to take their feedback in policy making and response on govt’s initiatives.
Within hours of launch, the number of people who started following PM Modi’s WhatsApp channel, grew at brisk pace and the numbers breached 10 lakh mark this evening.

This milestone achievement not just establishes PM Modi as a ‘leader of digital age’ but also underlines the potential of leveraging digital technology for public engagement and dissemination of information.

The WhatsApp Channel is the latest feature of messaging application, launched last week. It provides a one-way communication tool to ‘elite’ users, who can use the medium to reach select group of users, instantly & seamlessly.
