Nashik Literary Meet: Two women test Covid positive; contact tracing on say officials

Two women publishers from Pune who attended the 94th Marathi literary meet in Maharashtra have been tested positive for Covid-19.

New Delhi: According to the civic officials, two women publishers from Pune who attended the 94th Marathi literary meet in Maharashtra have been tested positive for Covid-19. However, what raised concerns among the officials is that thousands of people had attended the three-day Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan from December 3 to 5.

The two women will be quarantined either in Nashik or will be allowed to travel to their destination and concerned authorities will be asked to keep a check on them.

Authorities are trying to track the people who came in contact with the two infected women in the meet. As per the officials, those people in contact will be tested as per the protocol. Additionally, the organisers of the event had arranged for thermal scanning of visitors, antigen tests, and other measures.

Covid-19

Besides, the sources confirmed that many people were roaming around without wearing masks. The sources also claimed that several people including the dignitaries, who were present in the inauguration ceremony were also not wearing a mask. Even social distancing was not strictly followed.
