New disclosures in Atiq’s murder: Shooters plotted killing a day before, what led to change in plan?

The shooters, who were identified as Arun Maurya, Lavlesh Tiwari & Sunny Singh developed cold feet as the gangster-politicians were surrounded by multiple layers of security when brought in & outside the court.

New Delhi: Days after the on-camera killing of gangster-politicians Atiq Ahmed & his brother Ashraf outside Prayagraj medical college, it has to come light that the three killers had plotted to eliminate the duo a day before but the heavy police security forced them to abandon their plan.

The shooters, who were identified as Arun Maurya, Lavlesh Tiwari & Sunny Singh developed cold feet as the gangster-politicians were surrounded by multiple layers of security when brought in & outside the court.

A leading publication, quoting sources, reported that the trio wanted to kill Atiq Ahmed & his brother Ashraf on the day (April 14) when they were taken to Prayagraj court for hearing on their remand. But, as the don brothers were always enveloped in thick layer of security at the court premises, the shooters doubted the success of their plan & hence backed out.

A day later, on February 15 (Saturday), the trio killed the gangsters from point blank range while the mafia brothers were being taken to hospital for medical examination. Though, they were flanked by multiple policemen but the shooters broke the cordon posing as mediapersons and killed them with indiscriminate firing from close range.

The shooters, armed with expensive Zigana pistols, fired more than a dozen rounds in just 22 seconds in presence of UP police, thus drawing all-round criticism for the latter.

All three shooters surrendered before the police after shooting.

Meanwhile, the UP police is recreating the crime scene outside Prayagraj medical college to establish the sequence of events & to ascertain how the shooters breached the security cordon.

Sources suggest that Atiq’s killers will also under narco test to establish & authenticate their statements.
