Now, UP prisons to resonate with ‘Mahamrityunjay Jaap’ & ‘Gayatri Mantra’

Uttar Pradesh prison minister Dharmveer Prajapati on Friday told media persons that the inmates lodged in various jails the state will now be made to hear ‘Mahamrityunjay Jaap’ and ‘Gayatri Mantra’.

New Delhi: ‘Punishment by bulldozer and healing by spiritual songs’ seems to be the mantra of Yogi government 2.0. Uttar Pradesh prison minister Dharmveer Prajapati on Friday told media persons that the inmates lodged in various jails the state will now be made to hear ‘Mahamrityunjay Jaap’ and ‘Gayatri Mantra’.

Soon, the prisons of Uttar Pradesh will look no less than spiritual centres, as mantras will go a long way in purging the inmates of ill thoughts.

The purpose behind the decision is said to be ‘spiritual healing’ of prisoners in the state. Briefing the media persons, Dharmveer Prajapati said that the mantras will help prisoners in attaining mental peace and getting a positive outlook of life despite living in seclusion & isolation.

Apart from this, the state government has also banned use of plastic bottles and accessories in jails. This will not only cleanse the premises of plastic materials but also spread awareness among prisoners about the need to shun it for greener planet.

Jails have also been told to inculcate a better system of vocational training so that prisoners could learn life-changing skills and make good quality products. This way, their produce will not only fetch good price in markets but will also add to the quality of manufactured products in prison. Jail authorities have also been told to promote the use of pottery in prison department.

Promising series of reforms, the Minister also said that his doors are open for any employee to directly come & meet him. He assured that positive suggestions will be included in 100-day action plan of the department.
