Odisha CM speaks to Gujarat CM, discusses ways to ensure safe return of Odia workers

It was decided that the Governments of Maharashtra Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh will be requested for waiver of road tax for the buses carrying Odia workers from Gujurat.

New Delhi: Odisha Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik today spoke to Gujarat counterpart Vijay Rupani over video conference and discussed ways to facilitate the safe return of Odia workers, currently stranded in Gujarat. Union Petroleum Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, who hails from Odisha also participated in the talks.

It was decided that for bringing back the workers safely to Odisha, a coordination committee comprising of two officers each, from both the states will be formed. The workers will be transported to the native state by bus. For looking into other modes of transportation, the decision will be taken after considering all aspects.

All those interested to return back to Odisha will have to go through mandatory registration and will have to remain in quarantine after reaching Odisha. They will however get all other facilities as per the provision.
