New Delhi: On Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 71st birthday, the Covid-19 vaccination drive is moving at a galloping speed. Over 1 crore vaccine doses were administered till 1 PM, a record since inoculation process began.

Looking at the fast vaccination numbers today, the numbers are likely to cross 2 crore by evening.

Lauding the healthcare workers for undertaking the drive with swiftness, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya took to Twitter to share the good news. He expressed hope that nation will achieve a new milestone and that would be the true tribute to Prime Minister.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted yesterday and urged all to come forward & get vaccinated as this would be a birthday gift to PM Modi.

“Let’s do #VaccineSeva and give him (PM Modi) birthday gift by getting vaccinated those who have not taken the dose so far,” Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said yesterday, urging people to get the shots.

20-day vaccine campaign till Oct 7

According to reports, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders are reaching out to people and urging them to get vaccinated while health officials have been asked to double the vaccination drive. The party has set a target of adminstering 2 crore vaccine jabs every single day till Oct 7 and for this, it has mobilised about 8 lakh volunteers.

On Oct 7, 2001, Narendra Modi was sworn-in as Gujarat chief minister. As the mega vaccine outreach program culminates on that day, the party volunteers would also organise massive cleanliess and blood donation programmes.

The last time, highest vaccine doses were administered was on August 27, when 1.03 crore people were jabbed.
