‘Picture abhi baaki hai’ & ‘tip of iceberg’: BJP’s sharp jibes at TMC over minister’s arrest

New Delhi: The arrest of Parth Chatterjee, TMC minister in Mamata govt and the detention of his close associate Arpita Mukherjee has elicited sharp jibes and swipes from the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The arrest of Bengal minister came a day after the probe agency recovered Rs 20 crore in cash from the property linked to Chatterjee’s associated Arpita Mukherjee. Several other electronic devices including mobile phones & incriminating documents were also recovered. The said amount is said to be the proceeds of crime of the said SSC recruitment scam. In the photos that went viral, notes in the denomination of Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 were recovered from her residence.

Reaction to the ED raids, Bengal BJP leaders mocked the ruling party over rampant corruption and said that it was just the tip of iceberg as bigger fish were yet to be revealed.

Commenting on raids at Chatterjee,s house, the BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari said, “Yeh toh bas trailer hai, picture abhi baki hai..”

Dilip Ghosh, the BJP MP slammed the Mamata administration for keeping mum on instances of corruption by her own partymen while raising hue & cry over others.

“Wait for a few days and you will see this is only the tip of the iceberg… The names of more leaders will be uncovered,” he said.

The probe agency raided the residence of Arpita Mukherjee, a close associate of TMC minister Partha Chatterjee in connection with an alleged teacher recruitment scam in West Bengal on Friday night.
