New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday joined WhatsApp Channels, a popular featured launched last week by the message application.
The WhatsApp Channels will allow the Prime Minister to broadcast messages directly to his followers on WhatsApp. In the first message on WhatsApp Channels, PM Modi shared a screenshot of his image sitting in the new Parliament building.
“Thrilled to join the WhatsApp Community! It is yet another step closer in our journey of continued interactions. Let’s stay connected here! Here is a picture from the new Parliament building…”he wrote while joining WhatsApp channels.
Notably, PM Modi enjoys massive following on social media and he makes a conscious effort to inform & impress upon his followers via this medium.
WhatsApp Channels will allow him to stay connected with large number of subscribers at once.
What Are WhatsApp Channels? How it works?
WhatsApp Channels is a recent tool of the messaging application that gives admins greater leverage in reaching out to its members. It allows one-way broadcast tool to send photos/videos/stickers & polls to huge number of audience at one go.
Many celebrities including Bollywood celebs have rolled out their own WhatsApp channels to enhance their reach to fans & followers. Katrina Kaif, Diljit Dosanjh, Akshay Kumar, Vijay Deverakonda, Neha Kakkar and Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg have marked their presence on WhatsApp Channels. Team India also rolled its own WhatsApp Channel recently.
Unlike WhatsApp business groups, the followers have a option here to reply via emojis, however, they can’t reply to it via any text message or pic or video.
How to join PM Modi’s WhatsApp channel?
# Open WhatsApp on your phone and press the Updates tab
# Search for Find Channel option and search for “Narendra Modi”
# PM Modi’s WhatsApp channels will appear, you can follow by giving consent
Currently, the feature is limited for celebs with popular appeal. However, the owners have said that they may consider rolling out this feature in near future.
