PM Modi remains most popular global leader with 75% approval ratings, says US Survey

Out of 22 county leaders survey by the US based global leader approval tracker, Narendra Modi enjoys approval ratings of 75%, a feat unmatched by any leader.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity remains unmatched by any leader of any country and he continues to top the rankings. The recent survey by US based Morning Consult finds that Narendra Modi continues to occupy the top spot and dominate the global leader rankings by a huge margin.

No leader comes close to Indian Prime Minister when it comes to popularity charts. With 75% approval ratings, he remains the most popular global leader for India’s adult population.

Out of 22 county leaders survey by the US based global leader approval tracker, Narendra Modi enjoys approval ratings of 75%, a feat unmatched by any leader. Even the nearest rival Lopez Obrador, Mexico’s President stands distance apart with a margin gap of at least over 12%.


Other leaders like US President Joe Biden France president Emmanuel Macron, Canadian President Justin Trudeau are account for almost of PM Modi’s popularity.

Joe Biden has approval ratings of 41%, Justin Trudeau has 39% and Macron has just 34% approval ratings.
The latest approval ratings are based on data collected from the period August 17 – August 23. The ratings are decided on 7-day moving average of adult residents.

Over the years, Morning Consult, the most reliable survey agency has seen Narendra Modi topping its charts. Despite the global challenges that the world saw including Covid-19 pandemic, current Russia-Ukraine war and its cascading effect on oil prices, PM Modi continues to remain the first choice of adult population. Though the percentage of popularity wavered to some extent but the numero uno position has almost remained static.

How is the survey done?

Morning Consult takes into account real-time polling data to conduct its survey. It conducts more than 20,000 global interviews daily with the adult population.

The survey is based on a 7-day moving average of all adults in the given country and has an error margin of +- 1-3 percent. US sample is the highest with about 45,000 while other nations are much lower with about 3,000-5,000 sample size.
