PM Modi’s golden bust carved in 156 gm gold, matches BJP’s 156 seats in Gujarat polls

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi was at the forefront of BJP campaign and it was his aura & appeal that resulted in 156 seats for the party, the Surat-based jewelers used the same amount of gold for creating the memorable replica.

New Delhi: In a rare & unique gesture of celebrating Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s thumping victory in Gujarat Assembly elections, some jewelers in Gujarat’s Surat district have carved a golden bust of PM Modi, with 156 gram gold.

The golden bust of PM Modi, weighing 156 gram, resonates with the saffron party’s electoral sweep in Assembly polls, for 7th consecutive term. In the recently concluded Gujarat Assembly elections, BJP made a clean sweep with 156 seats while Congress was reduced to mere 17 seats in the 182 member Assembly. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) claimed big undercurrent for itself, claimed victory in 5 seats.

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi was at the forefront of BJP campaign and it was his aura & appeal that resulted in 156 seats for the party, the Surat-based jewelers used the same amount of gold for creating the memorable replica.

The bust has been made by a Surat based jewellery company named Radhika Chains. The replica has been made in 18-carat gold and costs around Rs 11 lakh. The makers said that it took almost 3 months of assiduous work by more than 20 artisans to create such a glittering golden replica of PM Modi.

Modi - golden bust

While speaking to press, they said that as PM Modi created history in Gujarat by winning the polls for record 7th time with landslide margin, we thought of doing something similar to match the scale & intensity of poll victory.

“As the party under PM Modi won an unprecedented 156 seats, we thought of making his replica in the same amount of gold. The golden bust weighs 156 grams, exactly matching the number of seats won by BJP. More than 20 people worked hard to create this memorable replica of Narendra Modi,” the shopowner told newsmen.
