PM Modi’s US visit: Lawmakers, eminent citizens & Indian diaspora prepare for grand welcome

Ahead of the Indian PM visit, a couple of lawmakers spoke underlined the need & importance of world’s two biggest democracies coming together to address challenges raging from climate change to changing geopolitics in Asian continent.

New Delhi: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi begins his first state visit to United States (US), the American administration has pulled out all stops for his grand welcome. And, the enthusiasm & excitement is palpable not just among the Indian diaspora but also American lawmakers & many eminent US citizens.

The Indian diaspora is all geared up to give a rousing reception to PM Modi on his first state visit to America while a couple of US lawmakers said that they are very much looking forward to his visit, with many advocating the importance of Indo-US ties in new global order.

PM Modi is travelling to America from June 21 to June 24, on the invitation of US President Joe Biden. During the visit, PM Modi will address the joint sitting of US Congress for the second time, first was held in 2016. Besides meeting with US CEOs and many more engagements, US President & First Lady will also host PM Modi for a state dinner at the White House on June 22.

Ahead of the Indian PM visit, a couple of lawmakers spoke underlined the need & importance of world’s two biggest democracies coming together to address challenges raging from climate change to changing geopolitics in Asian continent.

Ami Bera, member of US House of Representative from California since 2013 said, “There are geopolitical challenges within Asia and so forth, and then India is also a rising economic power. So I think there’s an opportunity to work on the US-India trade relationship. I think there’s a real opportunity for the two countries to grow together.”


A lot many eminent citizens spoke on shared values of two democratic counties and also opined about the need for democracies to come together in wake of dictatorial regimes resorting to expansionism.
