
New Delhi: Ahead of Presidential elections, the clamour for National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate Droupadi Murmu is getting bigger. A slew of parties have already announced support while many among the Opposition have also made up their mind to back the first tribal woman contesting for the top Constitutional post.
The Presidential elections are scheduled for July 18 and both nominees including Droupadi Murmu & Yashwant Sinha are canvassing for support.
As per current statistics, the 64-year-old presidential candidate of NDA is seen as the clear winner as rival parties like Shiv Sena, JMM & Om Rajbhar’s party are also likely to extend support.
Parties that are supporting Droupadi Murmu
Given the massive strength of BJP & allies in both the Houses, Droupadi Murmu is likely to easily sail through, with Opposition posing little or no roadblocks.
So far, the NDA candidate has received support of BJP, BJD, YSR Congress, TDP, Janata Dal (Secular), Shiromani Akali Dal, JDU, AIADMK, Republican Party, Lok Jan Shakti Party, Apna Dal (Sonelal), Nishad Party, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
Smaller parties like NPP, NPF, MNF, NDPP, SKM, AGP, PMK, Jannayak Janata Party, UDP have also extended support.
SP’s Shivpal, Rajbhar’s party, BSP & YSRCP back Murmu
Amid the growing voices of discontent & rumblings within Samajwadi Party, Shivpal Yadav & Om Prakash Rajbhar’s party have come out in support of Murmu. Rajbhar is the chief of the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party.
Apart from them, BSP in Uttar Pradesh and YSRCP in Andhra and BJD in Odisha are other rivals who are rallying behind the NDA candidate.
JMM more than willing to support Murmu
The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has already expressed desire & need for a President from the extremely backward community but is yet to make an official announcement.
