New Delhi: The Day 2 auction of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 2023 is currently underway in Mumbai. Many noted players got picked by PKL franchisees yesterday on a whopping price while many are still in the fray. Among the renowned players to be auctioned include Maninder Singh, Vikash Khandola, Siddarth Desai & others.
On day 1 of the auction in 10th edition of the Pro Kabaddi League 2023, Iran’s Legendary all-rounder Mohammadreza Shadloui Chiyaneh bagged a staggering bid of Rs 2.35 crore from Puneri Paltan to become the most expensive foreign player in the history of the league.
Renowned player Pawan Kumar Sehrawat also triggered highly intense bidding between various teams including Telugu Titans, Bengaluru Bulls, and Haryana Steelers before finally getting secured by Telegu Titans at a monumental price of Rs 2.605 crore.
With this bid, Pawan once again stole the show by zooming past his own previous bidding record to become the best buy of the night once again.
PKL’s record-breaking auction
On the opening day of the auction, 23 players were bought by 12 different franchises that also used 6 Final Bid Match (FBM) cards on Day 1.
While the last player auction of the league saw four players touching the mark of Rs 1 crore, this time, the number further rose to a five as talented players Pawan Kumar Sehrawat (2.605 crore), Mohammadreza Shadloui Chiyaneh (2.35 crore), Maninder Singh (2.12) crore, Fazel Atrachali (1.61 crore), and Siddharth Desai marched into the prestigious 1 crore club on day 1 of the auction.
Showing excitement about the same, League Commissioner Anupam Goswami said “It was an exceptional day at the PKL Auctions and we have witnessed 5 players crossing the Rs 1 crore mark.”
“It was extremely thrilling to witness Pawan being the highest ever buy one again despite getting his previous record broken by Shadloui earlier today “, he added further.
Irani Domination
Other than Mohammadreza Shadloui Chiyaneh, Iranian star defender Fazal Atrachali also became one of the most exorbiant foreign players after being sold to Gujrat Giants at a whopping bid of Rs 1.60 crore. He also continued to be the most expensive defender in the history of the Pro Kabaddi League.
Notably, Fazal’s new franchise Gujarat Giants also roped in his fellow countrymen for a price of Rs 22 Lakh.
The PKL 2023 auction will continue to go on till 10th October (Tuesday) with the number of players from the B and C categories set to try their luck under its hammer.
