New Delhi: In an incident reminiscent of India’s ‘Anju turning Fatima in Pakistan, a Rajasthan woman Deepika Paatidar has converted to Islam after fleeing from the country. Deepika, the mother of two children, adopted Islam in Quwait.
Deepika released her video confession on popular TikTok App, where she claimed that she is now a Muslim and her name is Nazeera. She shared a 4.9 minute clip on the video sharing app, where she claimed that she converted to Islam at her own will and wasn’t under any pressure or coercion from anyone. Her TikTok video has gone viral and is also being widely shared.
Deepika turned Nazeera Sayeed, however blames her husband and father-in-law for her plight. She says that she was forced to leave the country and abandon her religion because of her father-in-law’s objectionable advances & husband’s complicity in it.
The woman hails from Rajasthan’s Dungurpur area. She was married to Mukesh Paatidar and they have 11 year old daughter & 7 year old son. She disappeared from the village on 10th July, a complaint of which was filed by her husband in Chitri police station. The woman reportedly converted to Islam and eloped with her Muslim lover. Her husband complained to the cops about the man who ‘mindwashed’ her and helped her flee from the native place. The police though failed to find her and lover’s whereabouts.
Today, her admission on camera that she has moved to Dubai and turned Nazeera, has created fresh flutter on social media.
‘Father-in-law abused me, husband stayed mum’
Deepika turned Nazeera has made slew of charges against her father-in-law and also her husband. She rather blamed them for her conversion to Islam.
Deepika says that she got tired of father-in-law obscene advances and her husband’s silence over it and was thus forced to take some concrete step to safeguard her dignity.
“My father-in-law used to engage in dirty habits. When I complained about this to my husband, he stood silent and didn’t utter a word,” she says in the video.
She also makes an appeal to the police & administration not to trouble her & her Muslim partner, on complaints of estranged husband & in-laws, as she bore all the harassment & humiliation alone and didn’t get any help from police or society members for 10 long years.

Days before Deepika, Rajasthan’s another woman Anju grabbed enough spotlight as she left her husband and kids for a partner in Pakistan. Anju, a resident of Rajasthan’s Alwar moved to Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhthunwa province to meet her Facebook friend Nasrullah. Both of them got married days later, the videos of which got widely shared on social media.
