
New Delhi: Rajya Sabha Elections in Rajasthan is going to be very interesting as a BJP-backed Independent candidate Subhash Chandra is in the fray. Chandra said he is going to the Upper House as he has also the support of Congress and ”eight will crossvote” in his favour.
Notably, there are four seats vacant in Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan. Two seats are set to go in the Congress’ court while the BJP is set to win one. However, a neck and neck fight will be seen for a single seat.
Chandra won Rajya Sabha in 2016
This year, the election is tough for Chandra but he also faced the same situation in 2016 and emerged as victories. In 2016, Congress had the majority for its candidate but it lost the seat due to a conspiracy and Chandra secured his position in the house.
Reportedly, someone replaced the purple colour pen with another colour. Owing to this, the votes of 16 Congress votes got cancelled. This is how BJP-backed Chandra reached Rajya Sabha. The case went to the Supreme Court but the decision is yet to come after 6 years.
Who is Subhash Chandra?
Subhash Chandra was born in Haryana’s Hisar. He completed his primary schooling in the state and went to London for higher studies.
However, the Chandra family originally belongs to Rajasthan’s Sikar. Subhash’s father Nandkishor Goyal shifted to Haryana for business.
After completing his education, Chandra started the first cable TV channel in India namely Zee Media Group.
He has also written many books. He is to be considered a famous motivational speaker among youths.
