Rajya Sabha Election Result 2022: BJP leads in Karnataka, Congress in Rajasthan

Results for the Rajya Sabha elections in Rajashtan and Karnakata have been released while Counting in Haryana and Maharashtra is underway.

New Delhi:  The voting for the 16 Rajya Sabha seats in four states, including Maharastra, Rajashtan, Haryana, and Karnataka completed today at 4 PM. The counting of votes was begun by the Election Commission of India at 5 PM.

After a few hours of waiting, the results have now started coming out. Results for the Rajashtan and Karnakata have been released while the counting in Haryana and Maharashtra is underway.

Congress wins 3 seats and BJP 1 in Rajasthan

Congress won all three Rajya Sabha seats it contested in party-ruled Rajasthan with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also winning a seat in the state.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot congratulated party leaders Randeep Singh Surjewala, Pramod Tiwari, and Mukul Wasnik for their victory in the biennial polls to the upper house of parliament and said BJP had tried to indulge in “horse-trading by fielding an independent candidate”.

BJP candidate Ghanshyam Tiwari won but party-backed independent candidate Subhash Chandra lost the polls.

BJP wins 3 seats and Congress 1 in Karnataka

In Karnataka, the BJP won three seats out of four seats in the Rajya Sabha polls today. However, the fourth seat was won by the Congress candidate Jairam Ramesh.

From the BJP side, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, MLC Lehar Singh Siroya, and actor-politician Jaggesh won the election.

After the victory, Sitharaman thanked former CM BS Yediyurappa for his blessings and for the people of Karnataka.
