Qamar Mohsin Sheikh has been tying rakhi to PM Modi for 30 years now, though the tradition got broken in last few years due to Corona pandemic but she continued sending him rakhis by post.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will have a special guest on Raksha Bandhan this year. His Pakistan sister Qamar Mohsin Sheikh would be visiting Delhi to tie rakhi on the auspicious day.

Notably, Qamar Mohsin Sheikh is a Pakistan-origin woman who moved to Ahmedabad after her marriage and has been living in Gujarat ever since. She makes handmade rakhis for PM Modi every year.

Qamar Mohsin Sheikh has been tying rakhi to PM Modi for 30 years now, though the tradition got broken in last few years due to Corona pandemic but she continued sending him rakhis by post. Last year too, she sent the sacred thread to PM Modi via post and wished him for 2024 elections.

This year, she is likely to visit PM Modi’s residence and tie rakhi on his wrists. And, she is ecstatic & upbeat about meeting him after a gap of 3-4 years and celebrating the festival together. She is also expected to gift him a book on agriculture.

“This time I have made the ‘Rakhi’ myself. I will also gift him (PM Modi) a book on agriculture as he is fond of reading. For the last 2-3 years, I was unable to go due to Covid, but this time I will meet him in person,” she told a news agency.

Qamar says that she first tied rakhi to Narendra Modi when he was a RSS worker. She says that she always prays for his well-being & success and her prayers have also been heard by the Almighty.

”I pray for him every day for his good health and long life. I believe that all my wishes come true. Earlier when I prayed for him to be the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he became,” she said.
