New Delhi: In a major setback to Supertech, the Supreme court ordered to demolish two 40-floor towers built by the giant in one of its housing projects in Noida. The Supreme court said that the construction was a result of the collusion between the officials of the Noida authority and Supertech.

In its judgment, the top court said that the construction of the twin towers containing around 1,000 flats in Supertech Emerald Court in Noida was done in violation of the rules & must be razed within a period of two months by Supertech at its own cost.

Giving a big relief to the flat owners, Top court ordered that Supertech have to reimburse the amount paid along with 12% interest.

As per Bar and Bench, the order was passed after the Court concluded that the sanction given by New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA) in November 2009 for the twin towers was violative of minimum distance requirements and national building code.
