Richa faces public wrath over Galwan insult to Army but gets support from Congress

The Congress leader backed a tweet of ex-Army officer Ashok Kr Singh who tweeted that Chadha was not mocking the sacrifice of the soldiers but targeting a “political statement given by a serving General to benefit BJP in elections.”

New Delhi: Bollywood actress Richa Chaddh faced strong backlash and public ire for deriding & insulting the Indian Army, while referring to Galwan face-off with Chinese forces. As the issue snowballed into major row & received criticism from all sections, she apologized for loose remarks.

However, the actress has found backing from Congress party for her Galwan taunt on the Indian Army. Nagma, a fellow actress & Congress Vice President of the Mumbai unit, came out in her support and endorsed the fact that her comments didn’t mean any demeaning of the Armed forces.

The Congress leader backed a tweet of ex-Army officer Ashok Kr Singh who tweeted that Chadha was not mocking the sacrifice of the soldiers but targeting a “political statement given by a serving General to benefit BJP in elections.”

Replying to retired Army official, she tweeted, “Quiet Right”.

While the actress continues to be the receiving end, support by Congress leader has come as a shocker. This has given rise to many question.

“Is the Congress back to its habit of insulting security forces? Is it good to demean Army for alleged political gains?” are some of the questions being asked by learned & literate activists.

Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit slammed the Congress for repeated slight of Army. He also recalled the incident of grand old party & its leaders ‘hobnobbing’ with Chinese officials.

He says that he wasn’t surprised over Congress using Bollywood ‘stooges’ to offend armed forces as it even the surgical strikes in the past.

The Galwan face-off in 2020 was a violent clash between Indian & Chinese soldiers where our brave jawans gave the PLA a bloody nose & held their position firmly despite facing an ambush by the rival soldiers.
