New Delhi: In a new development in Actor and Youtuber Riya Kumari’s murder, her husband Prakash Kumar has been arrested by Howrah Police on Thursday morning.
Her husband was arrested after her family members filed a complaint against him alleging that he used to harass and threaten her.
Riya Kumari was shot dead while she was travelling with her husband and their 2-y-o daughter to Kolkata via NH-16 by car.
According to Prakash Kumar, he stopped his car on National Highway-16 in the Howrah district early morning to relieve himself when three men attacked him and tried to rob him and his belongings. Following this Riya protested the robbery attempt, and it was after this that the robbers fired at her and escaped, police said.
After she was shot, her husband drove for some kms and took her to a hospital with the help of locals where she was declared brought dead.
Riya’s family members filed a complaint against Prakash Kumar, his former wife, and his brothers. The family members alleged that he used to harass and threaten her.
They also said that Riya earned more than her husband.
Prakash’s car has been seized for forensic examination.
