Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav passes away at 82

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Mulayam Singh Yadav passes away.

New Delhi:  Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Mulayam Singh Yadav  passes away at 82 on Monday.

He died at 8.16 am due to multi organ failure.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav announced the passing away of his father and party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav.

He was quite critical and was on life-saving drugs, the Gurugram hospital informed on Sunday.

Mulayam Singh Yadav was under treatment since August 22 for his regular medical checkups and examinations.

Last week, his health had deteriorated suddenly after which he was shifted to ICU at Medanta Hospital.

Mulayam Singh Yadav was born on November 22, 1939. He was one of the most prominent leaders of Uttar Pradesh. He had also served as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh thrice.

He had also served in the Union Government as the Minister of Defence.

He was elected 10 times as MLA and 7 times as Lok Sabha MP.

His second wife Sadhna Gupta died in July this year. In 2003, his first wife, Maalti Devi passed away. Maalti Devi was the mother of Akhilesh Yadav.
