Sanitizers add Rs 137 crore to UP govt’s revenue: Out of 177 lakh litre, about 78-79 lakh litre sanitiser was sold within the state while 87 lakh litre were sold outside the state.

New Delhi: Not long ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked of converting Crisis into Opportunity especially in Covid-19 times.

Acting on Prime Minister’s appeal in earnest, Uttar Pradesh has harnessed opportunities and set an example for others.

While the nation battles Covid-19, Uttar Pradesh has attained the distinction of producing 177 lakh litre Sanitiser, adding to state govt’s revenue.

According to data furnished by Excise department, state’s sugar mills and small enterprises have produced whopping 177 lakh litre sanitiser from March 24-Nov 15. This has resulted in Rs 137 crore revenue for the state, which is sort of record in itself.

Out of 177 lakh litre, about 78-79 lakh litre sanitiser was sold within the state while 87 lakh litre were sold outside the state. Till date, 165.39 lakh litre sanitiser have been sold in local markets and other states.

Sanjay R Bhusreddy, Additional Chief Secretary, Excise Dept said, “State government took decision of sanitiser production at right time and also ensured that distribution and marketing channels are in place. This has resulted in extra revenue for the state.”

“Sanitiser production has added Rs 12,848 lakh GST revenue in the books while licence fee also brought considerable income,” he added.
