“The efforts of Prime Minister Mr. Modi have enabled us to fill the dam to its maximum capacity which will mark a new era of Gujarat’s development. I pray and wish a long and healthy life to the Prime Minister on behalf of 6.5 crore Gujaratis”, said the Chief Minister.

“#SardarSarovarDam achieves full reservoir level of 138.68 mtrs. First video of opening of dam gates and majestic view of water flow being shared on this proud moment,” CM Rupani tweeted the video hours ago.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel had dreamt of a gigantic dam on the exuberant waters of Narmada which would fulfil the water requirements of Gujarat. The Prime Minister, during his days as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, undertook the task of completing the work of Sardar Sarovar Dam with his determination and undying spirit. The UPA government did not permit to close the gates of Sardar Sarovar Dam and kept it hanging for 7 years.

As soon as Mr. Modi assumed the office of Prime Minister, he immediately gave the necessary approval and even permitted to fill the dam up to its maximum capacity. This has enabled the state government to provide Narmada water as far as 700 kms in Kutch, Banaskantha and Saurashtra.

Mr. Rajiv Kumar Gupta said, “The Chief Minister has always sought to fulfil the water requirements of the people of Gujarat, especially the farmers. Under his guidance, we have been successful in filling the dam to its full capacity this year.”
