New Delhi: Former Jammu & Kashmir governor Satya Pal Malik’s meeting with Khap leaders was interrupted by Delhi Police on Saturday, where they had assembled for showing solidarity with the former.

Delhi Police today reached the area, where Satya Pal Malik was present along with hundreds of Khap Panchayat leaders. All activities at the venue was stopped and Khap leaders directed to disperse while those opposing police action were being detained.

A large number of Khap leaders, from Haryana, Punjab & Eastern UP assembled at Delhi’s RK Puram area today to express solidarity with Satya Pal Malik. They claimed that Satya Pal Malik has always raised the voice of farmers and now he was being deliberataly targeted by Centre because of ‘fresh revelations’ on 2019 Pulwama terror attack.

Satya Pal Malik’s supporters claimed that the police action was a fall-out of his ‘daming’ allegations on Pulwama attack and against the Centre.

However, police rejected the charges and said that no official permission was sought before organising such gathering of people.

Speaking to reporters, Satya Pal Malik denounced the police intervention and said that it was community celebration & nothing political. He said that he will go to RK Puram police station and will protest against police ‘high-handedness’.

Gumnam Singh Charuni, who describes himself as Khap Pradhan, shared a video and said that he & Satya Pal Malik were taken into custody at RK Puram police staation.
