New Delhi: With 2,66, 326 Covid tests conducted in the last 24 hours, Uttar Pradesh has set a new record, thanks to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s continuous emphasis on increasing tests in the state in line with PM Narendra Modi’s mantra of testing, tracing and treatment to fight the virus. The tests included 1,14672 RT-PCR tests of which 19,000 were done in private laboratories.
Earlier, CM Yogi had directed the surveillance team to undertake door-to-door survey, increase pace of vaccination and double testing capacity in order to contain the spread of the virus and ensure prompt treatment of positive cases. This is why despite being the largest state in terms of population in the country, UP has less number of positive cases in comparison to many other states.
1,14672 RT-PCR tests in 24 hours
The state has paid special attention to testing in view of the growing number of cases in the state. Uttar Pradesh has the unique distinction of being the first state in the country to do more than 40 million Covid tests. Meanwhile, Government has placed an order for 40 new RT-PCR machines to accelerate testing even further.
A total of 3,38,02,522 houses surveyed in state
The UP Government formed the surveillance team during the first wave of coronavirus pandemic last year. The team has been conducting door to door visits since then to detect suspected Covid cases and facilitate treatment. Until last Monday, the surveillance team of the Health Department had conducted more than 16,31,25,460 visits in the state.
The team also facilitated tests for suspected cases during this period while treatment of those who tested positive was started.
The Health Department has so far surveyed 3,38,02,522 houses in 2.42 lakh localities in 5,81,264 team days.
1,25, 87, 984 people get vaccinated to date
The vaccination drive for Covid-19 has gained momentum of late in the state of Uttar Pradesh in order to reduce the effects of Covid infection. So far, a total of 1,25, 87, 984 vaccine doses have been given in the state, including 1,02,64,986 first dose and 23, 22, 998 second dose.
Uttar Pradesh has conducted the highest number of 4,10,64,661 Covid tests in the country so far. The state of late is noticing a decrease in the infection rate. There are a total of 30,317 new Covid cases in the state while 38,826 people have recovered.
