“She kept crying for help but they didn’t stop”: Friend Nidhi narrates horrific night when Anjali was dragged to death

When asked why didn’t she report it to police, she said that she was too scared to speak to anyone, leave aside police.“When the police approached me, I told them everything,” she said.

New Delhi: Contesting the claims of Delhi Police, the deceased Delhi girl’s friend Nidhi has come forward and revealed that it was a deliberate collision by the car owners and not a case of drunken driving as claimed.

“Anjali kept shouting for help but the car owners didn’t listen. They ignored her screams and kept driving their car.The men in the car deliberately caused the accident,” Nidhi said in a conversation with a leading TV news channel.

Nidhi was riding pillion with Anjali when the accident took place and following the mishap, she fled from the crime scene. The 20-year-old Anjali died after being dragged by the hatchback car for around 12 kms from Sultanpuri to Kanjhawala in the capital, on the first day of New Year.

She further said, “Anjali’s leg got stuck under the car after the accident. She couldn’t free herself from the car’s wheels but despite that they drove away the car.”

Speaking about her friendship, Nidhi said that she had become friends with Anjali just a fortnight ago and they had decided to celebrate the new year together.

“On December 31, she called me up and came to Sultanpuri to pick me up. After that, we went to Rohini and then she took me to her home. We then went to the hotel,” she told India Today.

On being asked about a video showing their fracas outside hotel, she said that they left the hotel premises at around 2 am.

“We had a close shave with a truck. She wanted to meet her boyfriend, failing which she said that she would die. I wanted to get down but she promised that she would drive slowly now. Just after that, our scooty collided with a car,” she further told the TV channel.

When asked why didn’t she report it to police, she said that she was too scared to speak to anyone, leave aside police.“When the police approached me, I told them everything,” she said.

The 20-year-old Anjali was the sole breadwinner of her family. She used to work with a management firm.
