Singapore-based University predicts Covid-19 may vanish from India by May 21

The assessment is based on mathematical models used in Artificial Intelligence data analysis by the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), said reports.

New Delhi: As Covid-19 cases cross 26,000 in the country, a Singapore-based university has predicted that the coronavirus could come to an end in India by May 21.

With 1,229 new COVID-19+ cases in the last 24 hours, India's tally stands at 21,700

The assessment is based on mathematical models used in Artificial Intelligence data analysis by the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), said anews report.

The university states that the “SIR (susceptible-infected-recovered) model is regressed with data from different countries to estimate the pandemic life cycle curves and predict when the pandemic might end in respective countries and the world, with codes from Milan Batista and data from Our World in Data”.

University’s predictions for US, UK & Italy

According to the University study, the Covid-19 pandemic will end in US upto 97% around May 11, in Italy around May 7 and May 9 in the UK.

Worldwide, COVID-19 will end 97% on May 29 and 100% on December 8, the model predicts.

Meanwhile, the total number of Covid-19 cases in India has mounted to 26,917 on Sunday evening, the Union Health Ministry stated. Of the total cases, 20,177 are active cases, 5,913 people have recovered, and 826 people have succumbed to the disease.
