New Delhi: Sharpening the attack on Modi government over Galwan clash resulting in death of 20 soldiers, Sonia and Rahul Gandhi posed fresh questions over China’s aggression and India’s response.

Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi said that the Chinese army has occupied Indian territory in Ladakh and asked ” when and how will the Modi government take back our land”.

She further reiterated that the Centre cannot back away from its responsibilities.

“The Chinese army has occupied Indian territory in Ladakh. How will Modi government take back our land? Today, people are standing beside the army and our soldiers. The government should give full support to the army. This is true patriotism,” she added.

Gandhi, in a video message on ‘Shaheedon Ko Salaam Divas’, said that the Central government should extend full support to the Indian armed forces.

“Today, when there is a crisis at the Indo-China border, the Central government cannot back away from its responsibilities. The Prime Minister said that there is no incursion on Indian territory. However, Defence Minister and Foreign Minister have repeatedly mentioned Chinese incursion,” the Congress interim chief said.

“Generals of our army, defence experts, and news outlets have confirmed Chinese incursion in our territory. If what Prime Minister Modi is saying is true, how did 20 Indian Army personnel lose their lives?” she asked.

Gandhis train guns at Centre

Rahul Gandhi in his video urged the PM to come clean on the border row with China saying he should not be afraid to speak the truth. He further asked who deployed Indian Army personnel at the LAC with China without firearms.

Priyanka Gandhi also lashed out at the Centre asking why the PM “sent our unarmed soldiers to face Chinese soldiers. The land on which they lost their lives is our land; we will not let you give our land to China. PM Modi has to answer questions asked from you.”

20 valiant Indian Army jawans had lost their lives in a violent face-off with the Chinese troops in Ladakh’s Galwan valley on the night of Feb 15-16.

Former Army Chief calls out ‘fear mongering’ by Congress

Taking exception to Gandhis attempt to politicize the Galwan issue, former Army Chief General VP Malik said that political parties must refrain themselves from creating doubts in the minds of soliders.

“No political party should involve armed forces in such politics,” said General VP Malik (Retd), hinting the Congress party to refrain from such ‘fear-mongering’.
