SPARSH: App for pensioners launched by MoD; know everything here

According to the government, it is a commitment to the Armed Forces in providing a secure and reliable digital platform for all pension-related activities.

New Delhi: The launch of SPARSH by the Ministry of Defence has made life easy for pensioners. Since the launch of the system, it has specifically been helping the elderly pensioners. The government of India further extended the service by launching an app.

Government’s vision for SPARSH

SPARSH stands for System for Pension Administration Rakshasa. It was implemented by the government to meet the pension sanction and disbursement requirements for Armed Forces, including Army, Navy, Air Force, and Defence Civilians.

The vision of the system is the Right pension at right time. According to the government, it is a commitment to the Armed Forces in providing a secure and reliable digital platform for all pension-related activities.

Key details of SPARSH

-SPARSH is a web-based system. It delivers the claims and credits pension directly into the bank accounts of defence pensioners, ending all the paperwork.

-Pensioners can use the dedicated portal to view their pension relation details, register complaints, and access services.

-The facility of the portal is being handled by the two largest banks, State Bank of India (SBI) and Punjab National Bank (PNB). They are also working as service centres.

About the app

The app is available on Google plays store with a size of 5.4 Mb. You can download it by clicking on the link — click here.

Following the downloading of the app, new users have to log in using either DPDO Pensioners or Bank Pensioners, whichever option you need.

Government’s mission 

It is a single-window for the pensioners as they can avail facilities to view the pension details, pension entitlements, pensioner profile details, Income Tax forms etc.

The mission of the government for the scheme are as follows:

-Centralised sanction, claim and disbursement of pension.

-Easy validation and rectification of data through self-verification thereby creating ”First-time correct data” with assured accuracy.

-Digital process for pensioner identification, removing requirement of multiple visits by pension offices.

-Added convenience with real-time tracking of grievances to ensure timely resolution of any disputes/complaints of pensioners.
