New Delhi: Modi government’s consistent focus on inoculating a billion plus population has finally started yielding excellent results. The Covid-19 vaccination drive which started floundering in May has again gathered momentum and is leaving behind the most developed nations including the US & Europe, where most vaccine producing companies are based.
The vaccination drive gathered steam in 1st week of June and by the closing week of June, the numbers are mammoth enough to bewilder the doubters.
Each of the last 8 days – from Sat Jun 19 to Sat Jun 26 – were all time best days of week for vaccinations, with 26th overtaking the perf on 18th. The past week dominates the list of best ever single days for vaccinations:

Second & third week of June were also impressive, with the nation vaccinating about 35 lakh people per day. But, the last week commencing from June 21 has broken all records. In 4th week, India administered vaccine jabs to about 70 lakh persons per day.
The extrapolated dynamic production rate computed from consumption accelerated from just under 120m/month prior week to 224m/month from this week’s data. If this momentum keeps up, 6-7million/day can be sustained.

India also overtook combined Americas and all of Europe in the rate of daily vaccinations as a 7DMA this week, crossing 6 million a day, much more than the peak performance in Europe, home to most major vaccine companies:
