New Delhi: Amid an all-out war between political rivals, Maharashtra in particular, over Mughal tyrant Aurangzeb, Srinagar Mayor Junaid Azim Mattu has waded into the controversy.

The Srinagar Mayor courted controversy by paying home to the Mughal Emperor whose reign was marked by oppression, tyranny & brutal atrocities on people of other faith.

Paying homage to Aurganzeb, the Mayor sought mercy & blessings for him, triggering barrage of criticism from people as well as politicians.
“May Allah (SWT)’s mercy and blessings be upon Hafiz-e-Quran, Shahenshah Hazrat Muhi-ud-Din Muhammad Aurangzeb (R.A.) and his grave,”Junaid Azim Mattu tweeted.

He made the remarks in response to former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis stinging remarks against the tyrant ruler.

Akbaruddin OwaisiFadnavis had lambasted AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi for visiting the grave of Aurganzeb in Aurangabad on May 12. In his searing remarks, the BJP leader tore into AIMIM chief’s brother and said, even “a dog wouldn’t pee on the identity of Aurangzeb.”

“Asaduddin Owaisi goes and pays tribute to Aurangzeb on his grave and you keep seeing that, you should feel ashamed of it. Listen to me Owaisi, even a dog will not pee on the identity of Aurangzeb. Saffron will rule in Hindustan,” Fadnavis said.

Fadnavis also launched scathing attack on Uddhav Thackeray and said Balasaheb would been ‘ashamed’ today to see that reading Hanuman Chalisa in Shiv Sena govt would be a ‘crime’.

“We just chanted Hanuman Chalisa. Would Balasaheb Thackeray have ever thought that reading Hanuman Chalisa during his son’s reign would be treason and that visiting the grave of Aurangzeb would be a state etiquette?” said Fadnavis.

Mattu is the President of the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party’s Youth wing. He is strong opponent of Abrogation of Article 370.
