New Delhi: Late Sunanda Pushkar was the wife of a former Indian diplomat and Congress party leader Shashi Tharoor.

She was born on June 27, 1962, in a Kashmiri Pandit family.

After the family’s house was set on fire by militants, Pushkar moved from Bomai to Jammu in 1990.

Sunanda was found dead at Delhi’s Leela Hotel on January 17, 2014.

Sunanda Pushkar’s body was found in suite number 345 of Leela hotel.

Shashi Tharoor gets anticipatory bail

On January 16, 2014, Sunanda Pushkar accused Pakistani journalists of her alleged affair with her husband and Congress leader Shashi Tharoor.

A day after Pushkar’s and Mehr Tarar had a spat on Twitter, Sunanda was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Hotel Leela Palace in New Delhi.

The postmortem report said that it was the case of sudden, unnatural death.

According to the reports, injury marks on her body and nominal traces of anti-anxiety drug Alprazolam were found in her stomach.

Shashi Tharoor gets anticipatory bail

On 2015, January 6, Delhi Police commissioner BS Bassi said that Sunanda Pushkar did not commit suicide but was a case of murder.

On May 15, 2018, the Delhi Police charged Congress leader with abetting the suicide of his wife Sunanda Pushkar.

Shashi Tharoor was charged under Sections 498-A  and 306 (abetment of suicide) of the IPC.
