Supreme Court dismisses petition of 2012 Delhi gangrape convict Mukesh Singh

The Supreme Court has dismissed the petition challenging the rejection of mercy plea of Nirbhaya convict Mukesh Singh. A three-judge bench headed by Justice R Banumathi pronounced the verdict on Wednesday on convict Mukesh Kumar Singh’s plea.

Dismissing the petition of 2012 Delhi gangrape convict Mukesh Singh, the Supreme Court said there is no merit in the contention. “alleged torture can’t be a ground, all documents were placed before the President and he had taken them into consideration,” the Supreme Court said.

Delhi: Convict in Nirbhaya case shifted to Tihar jail

The 23-year-old paramedical student was brutally gang-raped in a moving bus on December 16, 2012, by six people including a juvenile in Delhi. One of the accused, out of five adult accused, Ram Singh had committed suicide in the Tihar jail during the trial of the case.
